Registered in 1996 as Irwin, Jacobs, Greene and a founder member of the NSX, IJG has operated through essentially the entire modern economic history of independent Namibia. Over that time we have raised N$14 billion for clients, now manage N$7.5 billion in assets, listed 36 companies, and sponsor 50% of all NSX-listed entities, alongside an award-winning research franchise that has become a trusted voice on the national economy.

Group Chairman

Mathews is the Executive Chairman of the Millennium Investment Group, incorporated as a Namibian holding company in 1999 and today comprising about 21 subsidiary companies. He holds an MBA and a postgraduate Diploma in Business and Management from the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom, and served for five years as the Namibian Representative to the World Energy Council (WEC). Mathews currently chairs the Namboty Fishing board and is an Executive Director of Namcot Diamonds. In 2009 he was inducted into the Namibian Business Hall of Fame.

Group Managing Director

Mark is the Group Managing Director of the IJG Group of Companies. He joined IJG in September 2003 as Head of Research and, following the completion of his stockbroking exams in 2005, was appointed Managing Director of the IJG Securities business. In addition to his Bachelor of Business Science (Honours) in Finance from the University of Cape Town, Mark has completed an executive management course at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and was a Member of the Namibian Securities Exchange until 2012, when he was appointed Group Managing Director. In May 2006 he was rated the no. 1 sell-side analyst in the "Other African Markets & Economies" category of the Financial Mail broker ratings.

Mark's experience spans stockbroking, private equity investments, corporate finance transactions and wealth management solutions. Prior to joining IJG he worked in the derivatives department of WestLB in London for two years and completed an internship with Schwabe, Ley & Greiner, an Austrian consultancy firm.

Group Financial Director

Helena, CA(Nam), joined IJG in May 2016 as Group Financial Manager, responsible for the financial reporting of the IJG Group of Companies. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Rhodes University and a Bachelor of Accounting Science Honours from the University of South Africa. Before joining IJG she worked for Deloitte for six years, where she completed her articles, qualified as a Chartered Accountant and managed within the Business Process as a Service (BPaaS) department. Helena currently serves as Group Financial Director for the IJG Group of Companies.

Executive Director

Herbert Maier CA(NAM) CA(SA) is a licenced stockbroker and the Managing Director of IJG Advisory. He has worked closely with IJG for many years and formally joined on 1 June 2012. He began his career with Deloitte & Touche before becoming Group Financial Director of the Ohlthaver & List Group in Windhoek, where he was instrumental in the listing of Namibia Breweries on the Namibian Securities Exchange. He then spent three years in securities broking with Fleming Martin Securities Namibia.

In 2001 he opened an office for Mettle in Namibia, later taken over by Pointbreak Namibia through a management buyout, where as shareholder and joint CEO he was heavily involved in debt structuring and debt- and equity-based fundraising across the private and parastatal sectors. In 2009 he left to establish Greenhouse Financial Advisors, focused on corporate and transaction advice and debt restructuring.

Herbert's 35-year track record spans business valuations and restructuring, capital raising and corporate finance, privatisations, debt issuance and private equity. He has served as a director on several of IJG's portfolio companies and spearheaded Namibia's first local direct investment into a grid-tied, utility-scale solar PV plant.

Executive Director

Jolyon founded IJG in 1996 and was its Managing Director until the sale of IJG to Pointbreak in 2006. Over that period he built IJG from a start-up, competing with HSBC, ABN Amro and Huysamer Stals, into the leading Namibian stockbroking business, offering institutional broking, corporate finance and advisory, money-market and fixed-income dealing, research (including several Namibian indices that became benchmarks) and private wealth management.

Jolyon was instrumental in establishing and listing the Stimulus private equity vehicle in a joint venture with Pointbreak, and was a Member of both the Namibian and Johannesburg Stock Exchanges. Following the 2006 sale he moved to Mauritius to focus on unlisted equity and structured finance, and has recently re-acquired a stake in IJG.

From intern to Managing Director and shareholder over eight years, Andri leads IJG's drive to democratise investment and build a technology-centred wealth platform. An entrepreneur at heart, with ventures including Slice Pizza and the Tenge clothing brand.

Managing Director, IJG Capital

Jakob CA(NAM) (MBA) is the Managing Director of IJG Capital, having previously served as Portfolio Manager and, before that, Group Financial Manager of the IJG Group. He draws on his extensive experience in financial management, paired with advanced knowledge of current best-practice private equity thinking acquired through his MBA at the Gordon Institute of Business Science, to support portfolio companies in strategy implementation.
